Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award
Each year, the Office of Undergraduate Research recognizes an outstanding undergraduate researcher from each college/school at the University of Utah with an Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award. Recipients are selected based on their record of sustained commitment to developing research skills and knowledge under the supervision of a faculty mentor, evidence of independent and critical thinking, active participation in research-related activities on campus, and positive contributions to the research culture of campus.
We are delighted to announce that for 2017, four of the total fifteen awardees recognized are students within International and Area Studies.

- Heidi Qin, HBS in Ethnic Studies and Asian Studies minor (Social and Cultural Transformation recipient)
- Kai Sin, BS in International Studies and BS in Health, Society, and Policy (Social and Behavioral Science recipient)
